Paper-Less QM - History

Paper-Less QM is the culmination of years of experience on the manufacturing production floor and designing software to optimize its efficiency.

Paper-Less, LLC embarked on developing shop floor execution software over 14 years ago. Building an integrated quality management tool to compliment the suite of Paper-Less products started in 1995.

The solution was called QRMS (Quality Management and Reporting System) and ran on the IBM AS/400 and was targeted solely toward the MAPICS (now Infor) ERP marketplace. In 1996 QRMS was released for general availability and began to contribute to our AS/400 based MAPICS (now Infor) manufacturing customers.

Feedback through our customers, prospects, and consultants built the product over the years and continues to enhance the product to this day. QRMS remains a product offering for the AS/400 (iSeries) platform. However, having an iSeries based quality system precludes our software from contributing to non-AS/400, non-MAPICS (now Infor) based manufacturing companies. With this in mind, Paper-Less set out on a new development project to redeploy our quality software and focus our expertise on the most prevalent operating system and database – Microsoft Windows and SQL.

In December 2004, Paper-Less proudly released Paper-Less QM, a completely new design of the applications and the databases of QRMS under Microsoft’s .NET framework. With features to support incoming receipt inspections, work-in-process inspections, non-conformance, certifications, and more, Paper-Less QM has the flexibility to collect data from a variety of sources and communicate results through triggers and alarms, or sophisticated charting tools.

As important as Paper-Less QM itself, so is how it fits into the overall vision for Paper-Less software overall.

Paper-Less QM is the first of a series of product offerings to support LEAN manufacturing initiatives. Without resolving quality issues at their source, LEAN cannot be attained.

Paper-Less QM is the underpinnings of the Paper-Less Non-Conformance system and Material Review process.

Paper-Less QM also forms the basis for the Supplier Performance System.

All of these products fit squarely into Paper-Less’ concept of the LEAP (Lean Execution, And Planning) suite of software modules.
